Information regarding College of Mount St. Joseph
The College of Mount St. Joseph Music Department recently redesigned our programs to focus entirely on training teachers. Therefore, we offer a Music
Education degree with K-12 Licensure and we have a degree in performance with a studio teaching focus. Pedagogy study is individually tailored to the student's ability level and future plans for employment.
We also have a very unique immersion program to place students in professional environments around Cincinnati based on their future employment plans. For example, if a student wishes to perform in a professional orchestra, they will be paired up with a CSO player (or Ballet/Opera/Broadway orchestra member) for mentoring purposes and the student will attend professional rehearsals etc. The immersion experience allows the students to determine, while still studying, which professional path is best for them, how best to prepare for this chosen path, and the immersion will also offer professional contacts within each desired field prior to graduation. The Mount's emphasis on teacher training with an individually designed pedagogy program, and our immersion program, I believe, offers string students unique and valuable experiences.
The Mount is a Liberal Arts university so there are many scholarships for academic achievement plus talent grants for Music majors. The Dorm grant is a new option for students from certain counties in Kentucky. The fee for the dorm can be waived for Mount students from the following counties: Lexington - Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Jessamine, Scott, Woodford; Louisville - Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Washington, Bullit, Henry, Jefferson, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble, Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood.
This is the reason why I was reaching out to talk with you because I believe the Dorm Grant is a valuable option to help students from Kentucky pay for
university.
